Choosing a veterinarian is about more than finding someone to treat your pet. It’s about finding a team you trust to listen, explain things clearly and support you throughout every stage of your companion’s life.
At True Companion Vets, we believe great veterinary care starts with people. Every member of our team shares the same goal of helping pets receive thoughtful, personalised care while making owners feel informed, supported and confident in their decisions.
Our team brings together different backgrounds, clinical experience and professional interests, with a shared commitment to thoughtful care and clear communication. Meet Dr Cyrus So and Dr Ariel Lee, the veterinarians who have helped shape True Companion Vets from the beginning.
“Our goal isn’t just to treat illness. It’s to build lasting relationships based on trust, compassion and clear communication.”
Dr Cyrus So | Founding Director & VeterinarianQualifications:
Professional Interests:
For Dr Cyrus So, becoming a veterinarian has always been about making a positive difference for animals and the people who care for them.
Throughout his career, he has found the greatest reward in seeing sick or injured pets recover and return home to their families. Just as importantly, he values helping owners understand what is happening, what their options are and what the next steps look like.
That belief has shaped the way he approaches every consultation and ultimately inspired him to establish True Companion Vets.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science from The University of Sydney, Cyrus completed a Master of Tropical Veterinary Science through James Cook University. He is also currently completing a Master of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences through the University of Florida.
His professional experience includes work in general practice and in emergency and referral hospital settings. These roles have strengthened his clinical skills across medicine, diagnostics, emergency care, and soft tissue surgery, while reinforcing the importance of calm decision-making and clear communication in stressful situations.
Cyrus is passionate about continuing to learn throughout his career and enjoys embracing new knowledge and technology that can improve the care available to his patients.
One appointment is rarely the whole story of a pet’s life. Cyrus believes continuity of care comes from getting to know each patient and their family over time, supported by a team that communicates well and works together.
Whether you’re visiting for puppy or kitten care, annual health checks, diagnostics, surgery, dentistry or senior pet care, familiar relationships help the team understand your pet’s personality, history and individual needs.
That same thinking extends to the people who care for them. Cyrus created True Companion Vets with the belief that a positive, supportive workplace leads to better patient care and stronger client relationships.
Veterinarians, nurses and support staff each have an important role to play. By working together and building lasting relationships with pets and their families, the team can provide more consistent, personalised care throughout each stage of life.
Qualifications:
For Dr Ariel Lee, veterinary medicine is about caring for animals while also supporting the people who love them.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science from The University of Sydney, Ariel spent four years working in busy general practices in Hong Kong before returning to Sydney.
She has since worked as an Emergency Veterinarian at SASH and completed a small animal surgery internship at Animal Referral Hospital. These roles gave her further experience in emergency care, surgery, and the management of more complex cases.
Ariel is also certified in veterinary acupuncture through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society and continues to build her knowledge and clinical skills through ongoing learning.
Ariel likes to take the time to understand the bigger picture when a pet is unwell. Her approach combines careful problem-solving with clear communication, helping owners feel heard, understand what is happening and feel supported when making decisions about their pet’s care.
She particularly enjoys the problem-solving side of veterinary medicine and the variety that comes with each day. One of the most rewarding parts of her work is seeing an unwell pet recover and become themselves again.
Just as importantly, Ariel enjoys getting to know her patients and their families over time. She loves meeting cheeky puppies and kittens, watching them grow, and building relationships with the people who care for them. She values working together with owners to understand what is best for their pet, rather than taking the same approach with every patient.
“When you help an animal, you’re also helping the people who love them.”
Dr Ariel Lee | VeterinarianCyrus and Ariel bring different professional experiences to True Companion Vets, but their approaches to veterinary care have much in common.
Both value taking the time to understand what is happening, explaining things clearly and helping owners feel confident about the decisions they make for their pets. They also believe good veterinary care depends on a team that supports one another.
As True Companion Vets grows, we want to build a team where different strengths and perspectives are valued. Everyone may bring something different, but the shared goal remains the same: thoughtful care for pets and genuine support for the people who love them.
At True Companion Vets, we’re building more than a veterinary clinic. We’re creating a workplace where people feel respected, supported and proud of the care they provide.

One of the most common questions I hear from cat owners is, "My cat never goes outside. Do they still need vaccinations and regular check-ups?" It's an understandable question.
Every pet has their own story, and every health journey is different. Here, we share some of our real patient stories, from unexpected diagnoses and hidden health problems to successful recoveries and life-changing treatments.
I came to have my dog spayed and it was very reassuring to have the whole process explained to me, as it’s my first time having pets and I was quite nervous. They also explained what steps to take at home to make the recovery as comfortable and pleasant as possible for my pet. I felt very calm with the care they gave my fur baby.
My cat Luna always very scared at vet. Doctor and nurse very gentle and give her time to calm down. My English not very good, but doctor explain everything slowly and make sure I understand. I feel much less worried. Thank you!
My dog had been itchy for quite some time, chewing on his paws and having some irritated skin. We went to the vet, and they explained that there could be several causes, from environmental allergies to dietary issues or other skin conditions. They offered us different options to investigate the cause while we monitored the symptoms. We started the recommended treatment and some at-home care measures. I especially appreciated that they looked for the underlying cause and didn’t just try to temporarily relieve the itching, as I had given up trying unnecessarily numerous products that didn’t help. Thanks to them, we finally identified the real problem.
My dog started shaking his head a lot and scratching one of his ears. He also had crusty skin inside his ear. At the vet clinic, they examined his ear and explained that he had otitis. They offered to clean it and use the specific treatment for the infection, also explaining that it was important to monitor his progress to prevent it from becoming a recurring problem. They also explained how to properly clean his ear and what symptoms should prompt me to return for a follow-up appointment. The treatment worked very well, and he stopped bothering himself within a few days.
I took my cat to the vet because he’d been trying to urinate for hours and couldn’t. At the clinic, they told us he had an obstruction and would first try to fix it with a catheter, but it wasn’t enough and he was obstructed again a few weeks later. They finally had to operate to prevent the problem from recurring. He was hospitalized for a few days, and then they gave us medication and feeding guidelines. We were quite upset that we hadn’t realized his condition sooner, but the operation went well, and now he’s perfectly fine. The staff was very kind and reassured us by letting us know that this problem is more common in cats than it seems and that we shouldn’t feel guilty. We’re very happy with the outcome of the treatment and the care they gave my cat throughout the entire process.
The vet showed us Coco’s dental images and explained exactly which teeth were causing the problem. We received updates throughout the day and clear instructions when we took her home.
Your pet may see Dr Cyrus So or Dr Ariel Lee, supported by the wider True Companion Vets team. Where possible, we value continuity of care so you and your pet can build a relationship with familiar people who understand their history and individual needs.
Dr Cyrus and his team take the time to understand your concerns, explain findings in plain language and discuss practical options so you can make informed decisions without feeling overwhelmed.
After working in a range of veterinary environments, Dr Cyrus wanted to create an independent clinic centred on personalised care, meaningful relationships and a supportive team culture. His vision is to provide high-quality veterinary care while ensuring every owner leaves feeling informed, reassured and confident about their pet’s health.
True Companion Vets is committed to building a supportive, collaborative workplace where people genuinely enjoy helping pets and their owners. While recruitment needs will change as the clinic grows, we welcome expressions of interest from people who share our values and are passionate about personalised veterinary care.
Where possible, continuity of care is an important part of how we practise. Seeing the same veterinarian over time helps us better understand your pet’s health, recognise changes earlier and build a trusted relationship with you and your family.
Dr Cyrus has experience in general practice, emergency and referral hospital settings. His professional interests include small-animal medicine, diagnostics, emergency care, soft-tissue surgery, and preventive healthcare, supported by ongoing postgraduate study and professional development.
Dr Ariel Lee graduated from The University of Sydney before spending four years in general practice in Hong Kong. She has since worked as an Emergency Veterinarian at SASH, completed a small-animal surgery internship at Animal Referral Hospital, and gained IVAS certification in veterinary acupuncture.
This is the strongest AEO-style Ariel question because someone researching a new clinic is much more likely to search a vet’s background than something broad like “What does Ariel love about veterinary medicine?”
Whether you’re looking for a new veterinarian, need to book an appointment or have a question about your pet’s health, we’d love to hear from you.
