Helping Pip Rest Comfortably Again
Hospital Care
1/115 Bowden St Meadowbank
When your pet is unwell, needs ongoing treatment or requires close observation after a procedure, staying in the hospital can provide the extra support they need while they recover.
At True Companion Vets, our hospital care is designed to provide pets with attentive nursing, regular monitoring, and personalised veterinary care in a calm and supportive environment. Just as importantly, we aim to keep you informed throughout your pet’s stay, so you understand what is happening and feel confident about their care.
Some pets recover well at home, while others benefit from remaining in the hospital for closer monitoring and ongoing treatment.
Hospital care may be recommended when your pet needs extra observation, supportive treatment or regular reassessments that cannot be provided at home. During their stay, our team monitors their condition closely and adjusts their care as needed.
Every patient is different, so we tailor recommendations to your pet’s condition, their progress and your individual circumstances.
Hospital care is about much more than providing a place for pets to rest.
Our team carefully monitors patients throughout their stay, providing attentive nursing care and regular veterinary assessments to help track their recovery. If their condition changes, we can reassess them promptly and discuss the next steps with you.
This personalised approach allows us to respond to your pet’s needs while keeping you informed with clear, reassuring communication.
True Companion Vets combines personalised care with modern diagnostic capabilities, allowing many pets to receive a high standard of veterinary care without travelling further than necessary.
Our hospital facilities work alongside our diagnostic services to support pets that need additional assessment, monitoring or treatment during their recovery. By bringing these services together in one clinic, we can provide continuity of care with a team that gets to know both you and your pet.
We understand that leaving your pet in a hospital can feel stressful.
Our goal is to make the process as reassuring as possible by explaining why hospital care is recommended, what treatment your pet is receiving and how they are progressing. We believe owners should leave every conversation feeling informed and supported, not uncertain or overwhelmed.
If you have questions at any stage, we’re here to answer them clearly and honestly.
True Companion Vets provides hospital care for dogs and cats from Meadowbank and nearby communities, including Putney, Rhodes, Ryde, Eastwood and surrounding suburbs. Whether your pet needs ongoing monitoring following treatment or additional supportive care, our team is here to help.
If your pet has been advised to stay in the hospital or you’re concerned they may require closer monitoring, you can call our team or book an appointment online to discuss the most appropriate next steps.

One of the most common questions I hear from cat owners is, "My cat never goes outside. Do they still need vaccinations and regular check-ups?" It's an understandable question.
Every pet has their own story, and every health journey is different. Here, we share some of our real patient stories, from unexpected diagnoses and hidden health problems to successful recoveries and life-changing treatments.
I came to have my dog spayed and it was very reassuring to have the whole process explained to me, as it’s my first time having pets and I was quite nervous. They also explained what steps to take at home to make the recovery as comfortable and pleasant as possible for my pet. I felt very calm with the care they gave my fur baby.
My cat Luna always very scared at vet. Doctor and nurse very gentle and give her time to calm down. My English not very good, but doctor explain everything slowly and make sure I understand. I feel much less worried. Thank you!
My dog had been itchy for quite some time, chewing on his paws and having some irritated skin. We went to the vet, and they explained that there could be several causes, from environmental allergies to dietary issues or other skin conditions. They offered us different options to investigate the cause while we monitored the symptoms. We started the recommended treatment and some at-home care measures. I especially appreciated that they looked for the underlying cause and didn’t just try to temporarily relieve the itching, as I had given up trying unnecessarily numerous products that didn’t help. Thanks to them, we finally identified the real problem.
My dog started shaking his head a lot and scratching one of his ears. He also had crusty skin inside his ear. At the vet clinic, they examined his ear and explained that he had otitis. They offered to clean it and use the specific treatment for the infection, also explaining that it was important to monitor his progress to prevent it from becoming a recurring problem. They also explained how to properly clean his ear and what symptoms should prompt me to return for a follow-up appointment. The treatment worked very well, and he stopped bothering himself within a few days.
I took my cat to the vet because he’d been trying to urinate for hours and couldn’t. At the clinic, they told us he had an obstruction and would first try to fix it with a catheter, but it wasn’t enough and he was obstructed again a few weeks later. They finally had to operate to prevent the problem from recurring. He was hospitalised for a few days, and then they gave us medication and feeding guidelines. We were quite upset that we hadn’t realised his condition sooner, but the operation went well, and now he’s perfectly fine. The staff was very kind and reassured us by letting us know that this problem is more common in cats than it seems and that we shouldn’t feel guilty. We’re very happy with the outcome of the treatment and the care they gave my cat throughout the entire process.
The vet showed us Coco’s dental images and explained exactly which teeth were causing the problem. We received updates throughout the day and clear instructions when we took her home.
Hospital care allows your pet to receive closer monitoring, ongoing treatment, and attentive nursing when they need more support than can be safely provided at home. The decision is based on your pet’s individual condition and what will best support their recovery.
During hospital care, your pet is regularly monitored by our veterinary team and receives any recommended treatment or supportive care. We also reassess their progress throughout their stay and keep you informed about how they are doing.
The length of hospital care varies depending on your pet’s condition, how they respond to treatment and when it is safe for them to continue recovering at home. We will discuss your pet’s progress with you and explain any changes to the treatment plan.
