Pets cannot tell us when something feels wrong, which is why changes in behaviour, appetite, mobility, or energy levels can sometimes be the first sign of a health concern.
Our consultations provide an opportunity to discuss any questions you have about your pet’s health, behaviour or ongoing care. Whether you have noticed a new concern or simply want reassurance that everything is on track, we aim to provide clear answers and a practical plan moving forward.
Our focus is not only on treating illness but also on helping owners feel informed and confident about their pet’s care.
Regular health checks allow us to monitor your pet’s well-being and identify potential problems early.
Many conditions develop gradually and can be difficult to recognise at home. Routine examinations provide an opportunity to assess your pet’s weight, body condition, mobility, dental health and general wellbeing while discussing any changes you may have noticed.
Health checks also help establish a baseline for your pet over time, allowing us to track changes and provide recommendations that are tailored to their individual needs.
Vaccinations play an important role in protecting pets from a range of preventable diseases.
During your pet’s vaccination appointment, we also perform a health assessment to ensure they are progressing well and to identify any concerns that may require further attention. This allows us to look beyond the vaccination itself and take a broader view of your pet’s overall health.
Vaccination schedules vary depending on your pet’s age, lifestyle and individual circumstances. We can help you understand what protection is most appropriate for your companion and when future vaccinations may be due.
Finding time for veterinary visits can be difficult during a busy work week.
To make veterinary care more accessible, True Companion Vets offers weekend appointments. This provides greater flexibility for owners who may struggle to attend appointments during standard business hours and helps ensure pets receive the care they need without unnecessary delays.
Whether your pet is due for a vaccination, a health check, or a general consultation, weekend appointments make it easier to prioritise their health while fitting around your schedule.
Welcoming a new puppy or kitten into your family is an exciting time, but it often comes with plenty of questions.
Our puppy and kitten consultations focus on helping young pets get the best possible start in life. We provide guidance on vaccinations, preventative healthcare, nutrition and general wellbeing while ensuring your new companion is growing and developing appropriately.
We understand that every owner’s situation is different. Our goal is to provide practical advice and ongoing support so you feel confident caring for your newest family member.
As pets grow older, their healthcare needs often change.
Senior pets may benefit from more frequent monitoring to help identify age-related conditions and maintain their quality of life. Regular assessments allow us to evaluate changes in mobility, comfort, behaviour and overall health while discussing any concerns you may have noticed at home.
By closely monitoring your pet and providing tailored recommendations, we can help support their well-being as they move through their senior years.
From first vaccinations through to senior health support, our team is committed to building lasting relationships with pets and their families.
We believe veterinary care should feel personal, approachable and easy to understand. By combining clear communication with thoughtful, tailored recommendations, we aim to help you make confident decisions about your pet’s health at every stage of life.

One of the most common questions I hear from cat owners is, "My cat never goes outside. Do they still need vaccinations and regular check-ups?" It's an understandable question.
Every pet has their own story, and every health journey is different. Here, we share some of our real patient stories, from unexpected diagnoses and hidden health problems to successful recoveries and life-changing treatments.
I came to have my dog spayed and it was very reassuring to have the whole process explained to me, as it’s my first time having pets and I was quite nervous. They also explained what steps to take at home to make the recovery as comfortable and pleasant as possible for my pet. I felt very calm with the care they gave my fur baby.
My cat Luna always very scared at vet. Doctor and nurse very gentle and give her time to calm down. My English not very good, but doctor explain everything slowly and make sure I understand. I feel much less worried. Thank you!
My dog had been itchy for quite some time, chewing on his paws and having some irritated skin. We went to the vet, and they explained that there could be several causes, from environmental allergies to dietary issues or other skin conditions. They offered us different options to investigate the cause while we monitored the symptoms. We started the recommended treatment and some at-home care measures. I especially appreciated that they looked for the underlying cause and didn’t just try to temporarily relieve the itching, as I had given up trying unnecessarily numerous products that didn’t help. Thanks to them, we finally identified the real problem.
My dog started shaking his head a lot and scratching one of his ears. He also had crusty skin inside his ear. At the vet clinic, they examined his ear and explained that he had otitis. They offered to clean it and use the specific treatment for the infection, also explaining that it was important to monitor his progress to prevent it from becoming a recurring problem. They also explained how to properly clean his ear and what symptoms should prompt me to return for a follow-up appointment. The treatment worked very well, and he stopped bothering himself within a few days.
I took my cat to the vet because he’d been trying to urinate for hours and couldn’t. At the clinic, they told us he had an obstruction and would first try to fix it with a catheter, but it wasn’t enough and he was obstructed again a few weeks later. They finally had to operate to prevent the problem from recurring. He was hospitalized for a few days, and then they gave us medication and feeding guidelines. We were quite upset that we hadn’t realized his condition sooner, but the operation went well, and now he’s perfectly fine. The staff was very kind and reassured us by letting us know that this problem is more common in cats than it seems and that we shouldn’t feel guilty. We’re very happy with the outcome of the treatment and the care they gave my cat throughout the entire process.
The vet showed us Coco’s dental images and explained exactly which teeth were causing the problem. We received updates throughout the day and clear instructions when we took her home.
The ideal frequency depends on your pet’s age, lifestyle and overall health. Many healthy adult pets benefit from annual health checks, while puppies, kittens and senior pets may require more frequent assessments to help monitor their changing needs.
A consultation usually includes a discussion about your concerns, a thorough physical examination and recommendations based on your pet’s individual circumstances. The goal is to provide clear information, answer your questions and develop an appropriate plan for your pet’s care.
Puppies and kittens generally receive their first vaccination between 6 and 8 weeks of age, followed by a series of vaccinations during their early months. The exact schedule can vary depending on your pet’s age, previous healthcare history and individual circumstances, so we’ll recommend a vaccination plan that’s appropriate for your new companion.
Preventative care appointments help identify potential health concerns before they become more serious. They also provide an opportunity to review your pet’s overall wellbeing, discuss any changes you have noticed and keep vaccinations and routine healthcare on track.
Senior pet health checks focus on monitoring age-related changes that may affect your pet’s comfort, mobility and wellbeing. These appointments allow us to assess your pet’s current health and discuss any concerns that may have developed as they have grown older.
Yes. We offer weekend appointments to help make veterinary care more accessible for busy pet owners. Whether your pet needs a vaccination, a health check, or a general consultation, weekend availability provides greater flexibility when weekday appointments are difficult to attend.
Whether you’re looking for a new veterinarian, need to book an appointment or have a question about your pet’s health, we’d love to hear from you.
